An exhibition project sometimes requires only a few interventions, especially when the architecture hosting it is capable of becoming a support for a narrative made by the artworks and their placement within the space.
The relocation of the bust of Pharaoh Akhenaten to the center of the first room, facing the canopy of the Egyptian court, directs attention toward the emblems of the royal family. Beside him stands Queen
Nefertiti, his wife, who gazes towards the room dedicated to their royal city, Amarna, the place where their religious revolution began together.Â
Working with the available materials through minimal interventions, almost exclusively curatorial rather than architectural, is what makes this project special. The museum becomes a critical device for the visitor and a place of physical reunion for the two lovers.
